I’ve done a TON of experimenting over the last decade for the best protein shake recipe and I think I’ve found it…I like to call it the Chunky Monkey!
It’s packed with super fat loss ingredients and it tastes really awesome too. I start out most of my mornings drinking this protein shake and I love it…plus it’s nice not gagging while drinking one of these things.
One of my clients asked me if I knew any good protein shake recipes because they just can’t stomach the over-the-counter protein shakes that you buy at the health food stores. I wasn’t quite sure if this guy was making excuses…because he does slack off…so I went against my better judgement and told him about this secret protein shake recipe (even though I knew he was probably never going to try it).
So I was surprised as the next guy when he came back to the next session and told me that he tried it and LOVED IT. I was like “really?” not because it tasted great but because this was one of those guys who say they’re ready to take action on something and then I never hear from him again…
Myth: Protein Shakes are BAD for you.
There’s a lot of skepticism out there too regarding protein shakes and if they’re doing more harm than good. I get SO many questions from people wondering if it’s a good idea to drink protein shakes or if they’re better off getting the protein from whole foods.
Now I’ll tell you straight up that whole foods DOMINATE over protein shakes but there are a ton of times when eating a full meal isn’t possible and the next best option is to drink a protein shake.
Such as you wake up and have to go to work but don’t have time to make a big breakfast. Or if you just finished an intense metabolic conditioning workout and your body NEEDS some high quality nutrients FAST for maximal recovery.
Here’s my secret recipe for my Chunky Monkey Protein Shake
- 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk
- 1 scoop of Biotrust Protein
- 2 tbsp of natural peanut butter
- 2 tbsp ground flaxseeds
- 1/4 cup 80% cacao nibs
- 1 medium banana
And that’s it! Super simple but tastes awesome…you’ll get a lot of protein along with other great nutrients and anti-oxidants.
