In this review of BioTrust IC-5, you’ll get my thoughts and results on using this popular supplement for supporting healthy carbohydrate and blood sugar metabolism. I used the supplement for 30 days and have a lot of thoughts on if it actually works or not.
Wouldn’t it be nice to have some carbs and enjoy your cheat meals without guilt? Taking a blood sugar supplement like IC-5 helps prevent the blood sugar spike from eating too many carbs. This can keep you on track with your low-carb and keto diet.
But the last thing you want to do is to eat more carbs, and then the supplement doesn’t end up working. It’s easy to get derailed and binge eat on carbs causing you to break ketosis and your low-carb diet.

Most other products use a different version which can be much harder for your body to absorb in the first place. So if your body can’t absorb it, you won’t get any benefits or results from taking it.
There are also different versions of berberine depending on which plant it’s sourced from. Benfotiamine is a fat-soluble version of vitamin B1 that’s much easier for your body to absorb. And it’s been found to help prevent AGEs that cause skin aging.
Has the right amounts of ingredients.
The problem with many supplements is that they need to contain more of the right ingredients. Sure, some may contain some of the right ingredients, but they don’t have enough to get results.
Since they skimp on the quantity, it’ll be much harder for your body to get results. So it’s key to make sure you’re not only getting the right ingredients, but also the right amounts! Otherwise, you won’t get the results you’re looking for.
IC-5 contains the proper dosages of ingredients to get results. A high amount of Chromax and berberine is critical for getting results.
My Results and Experience Using IC-5
After using BioTrust’s IC-5 for 30 days, I’m so far quite impressed with the results. My main goal for taking IC-5 was to prevent the aftermath of eating sugars and some carbs.
I usually have a higher-carb meal for lunch when I break my fast in the afternoon. I’ll then usually have the dreaded afternoon carb crash that makes me super tired. Most of the time I have to take a nap in the afternoon to get my energy levels back up for the rest of the day.
I notice that when I take IC-5 before eating my lunch that I no longer have that afternoon carb crash. My energy levels stayed stable throughout the afternoon when I’d usually get tired and lethargic. This allowed me to get more done in the afternoon and helped me be more productive.
Along with fasting, I also follow a low-carb diet. But I’m only human so there are those times when I want to cheat and have a pizza or a cheeseburger with fries. I’ve been taking IC-5 prior to eating these cheat meals and haven’t noticed any long-term weight gain.
If I eat too many carbs or sugars, I noticed my weight went up a few pounds. But this was just water weight, and it quickly returned to my normal weight after a day or two.
IC-5 was also easy and felt gentle on my stomach. There was no bloated feeling at all after taking it. Some of these other blood sugar control supplements can be hard on your stomach, but I didn’t have any issues at all.
Preventing weight gain and low energy from eating carbs and sugars was my main goal with taking IC-5. I’m impressed that it did its job and I’m happy with the results. I plan to continue taking IC-5 before cheat meals and higher-carb meals to blunt the blood sugar spike and the damage it causes.
Cons of IC-5 (side effects)
Even though I was really impressed with IC-5, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have some cons you should be aware of.
One con is you must be aware that you will still gain weight if you eat too many calories. While IC-5 can help prevent weight gain due to eating high-carb meals, that doesn’t mean you can eat a ton.
If you’re 100% fully dedicated to the keto diet, then you probably won’t need this product. If you have no issues sticking with keto 100% of the time then you’re not eating many carbs or sugars. So you shouldn’t need a blood sugar support supplement at all.
I found it hard to always remember to take it before cheat meals. So I had to make sure I kept it on my kitchen counter so I would see it and wouldn’t forget.
It can be a little on the pricier side since it does contain premium ingredients in higher dosages. So for those on a tight budget, it may be too costly and cause some to hesitate to buy.
How to use IC-5
If you follow the keto or low-carb diet, you know sometimes you can get the urge to eat more carbs than you should. IC-5 is a great little secret weapon you can use, so those extra carbs don’t totally throw you off track.
Take IC-5 first whenever you’re eating carbs. Ideally, I’d take it 20-30 minutes before eating carbs, but it’ll still work even right before eating.
If you’re eating carbs in two meals a day, take 2 pills of IC-5 before eating. This will give you more leeway in your daily diet to allow some carbs without fear of breaking your keto or low-carb diet.
On cheat days, I’d definitely make sure you’re taking IC-5. Cheat days usually involve eating higher-carb meals like pizza, pasta, cookies, fries, cheeseburgers, etc., so it’s important to make sure you prevent blood sugar spikes.
A healthy blood sugar metabolism allows your body uses carbs and sugars as fuel and not as fat. Insulin will remain low, which can help to keep your body out of the fat-storing mode. This allows your body to utilize the sugars in your bloodstream as quick-burning energy instead of being stored as body fat.
So, Does IC-5 Really Work?
From my experience, IC-5 really does work for preventing the blood sugar and insulin spike that comes from eating higher-carb meals and sugars. It also works to make your body quickly burn off the sugars in your bloodstream for energy.
IC-5 will really help after eating a big meal with carbohydrates. The ingredients will keep your blood sugar and insulin in response from spiking.
