How to Lose the Last 10 Pounds FAST…by Josh Schlottman
When it comes to the battle of fat loss losing the last 10 pounds is one of the biggest problems when it comes to achieving your dream body. Sure, at first it’s a lot easier when you’re able to lose weight so quickly, especially if you’re really overweight, and every week you check the scale and you’ve already lost another 5 pounds.
But you only get so far until you’re not able to burn the same amount of fat anymore and you’re just plain STUCK. Everything seems so much harder and even though you’re doing the same stuff that got you to where you are, you’re still not getting NEAR the same results as you had been getting.
When you’re stuck trying to find out how to lose the last 10 pounds it can really take away a lot of the your motivation. It’s really inspiring when you see yourself dropping so much weight so quickly and you know all the hard work is worth it…and then you hit a plateau.
I wouldn’t say it’s easier losing fat in the beginning but you’re just playing a different ball game. When you’re first losing fat you’re playing in the minor leagues and it’s super simple. Just stop eating so much, eat better and workout doing the right stuff. But once you get down to losing the last 10 pounds, it’s like you’ve been bumped up to the major leagues and you’re playing a whole different ball game…so to make it short you’re going to have to change your approach.
Also a lot of the reasons why you’re not able to lose the last 10 pounds is mostly hormonal. Assuming you’re doing all the right stuff, you’re body naturally wants to hold on to some fat in order to survive. Back when we didn’t have food so freely available, it was a HUGE liability for your body to not have any fat on it. As long as you have some fat on you (10 pounds) you’re going to be able to survive longer, say if there’s lack of food for a week, then the person who has NO fat on their body. Losing 5 pounds in a week isnt’ too hard but losing the last 10 pounds can be a little more difficult.
How to Lose the Last 10 Pounds by Increasing Your Leptin Levels
If you’ve ever heard me talk of the hormone leptin then you’ll know that it’s CRITICAL when it comes to losing the last 10 lbs. Basically to lose weight, we all know you have to be taking in less calories then you’re expending and I really am against taking in super low calories for long. This will have the opposite effect and will DROP the leptin hormone levels in your body and you won’t be able to burn any more fat.
But if you’re able to throw in the much needed cheat day once a week then you’ll be able to bring back up your leptin levels and it will tell you’re body that you’re good and ready to burn some more fat. The key is knowing when to use the cheat day so you’re not getting FATTER but you’re burn fat instead.
How to Lose the Last 10 Pounds by Combating Cortisol
Another hormone that may be preventing you from losing the last 10 pounds is cortisol. You’ve probably seen those scammy late night television ads trying to sell you pills to prevent cortisol, and they’re a total ripoff by the way…
And it’s true that stress is one of the biggest causes of cortisol and it will put most of your fat into your belly. So if you have a big belly it’s most likely that you have high cortisol levels also. A good way to combat high cortisol levels is to produce a lot of lactic acid in the muscles while you’re training. The lactic acid in your muscles gives you that “burning” sensation like your muscles are about to burst open.
Lactic acid is mostly produced by the concentric (positive) part of the motion in exercise, so when you’re doing lifts it’ll be a great idea to focus on going a lot slower on those movements then you would when you do the eccentric (negative) motion. This will help produce lactic acid in your muscles and fight the belly fat storing cortisol in your body.
How to Lose the Last 10 Pounds by Stabilizing Insulin
Insulin is another hormone that you’ll need to know about for how to lose the last 10 pounds fast. To keep your insulin levels stable you’ll have to cut back on your sugar and carbohydrate intake. Becoming insulin resistant will be a pain in your butt if you’re trying to achieve your dream body. So this also means eating smaller 5-6 meals a day, 3-4 hours apart. This way you’re sugar levels are stable throughout the day.
Do everything you can do avoid sugar, white flour and white carbohydrates. These will inevitably spike your blood sugar levels like a crack fiend and then it’ll only be a matter of time before they come crashing down.
The best thing you can do to stabilize your blood sugar in the morning is to eat a low carb breakfast. This will fill your belly without causing your blood sugar to spike.
How to Lose the Last 10 Pounds by Fighting Estrogen
The last hormone I want to talk about when it comes to losing the last 10 pounds is estrogen. I’ve made a post all about estrogen and you can see it by going here, How to Get Rid of Man Boobs. But basically when you have too much estrogen in your body then you’ll be storing a lot more fat in the hips and thighs area (and of course the man boobs too).
A great way to naturally combat high estrogen levels would be to increase your natural testosterone levels. This means cutting out all foods that have soy and estrogens in them while also eating foods that promote testosterone. And the ladies won’t experience any crazy man-transformation results, unless they start injecting testosterone steroids…please don’t ladies.
For more reasons why eating soy isn’t good for you see my blog post on why soylent isn’t healthy.
Those are the 4 hormones that you’re going to have to get under control if you wish to lose the last 10 pounds. Because the simple stuff will simply not work nearly as well anymore and you’re going to have to step your game up and go DEEP.
