How To Lose Belly Fat Naturally

There’s no doubt about it that belly fat is going to be one of the most unflattering sights on the human body.  I can’t imagine anybody who’s packing on the belly fat walking down the beach in a bikini and getting a ton of admirers.  But hey, there are some people who are into that sort of thing although 99% of society disagrees.

Before I packed on my lean muscle I was the skinniest kid on the block.  I remember when I first received my driver’s license I was 6’1″ and weighed only 165 lbs.  I can still remember how hard I worked in the gym over a summer vacation and packed on 30+ lbs. of lean muscle for my senior year in high school.  I kept asking myself, “what is the best diet for belly fat?”

So even though belly fat isn’t really a problem for me, it’s still a humungous problem for most of society.  Some people seem to store more fat in the stomachs and it’s not only unhealthy for them, but it’s also dropping their hot ratings quickly.

This blog post is all about how to lose belly fat naturally and some of the best ways to do it.  Nowadays you’ll flip on the TV and you’ll see an abs commercial every 15 seconds, and that’s because the marketers know what people want to buy.  The magic pill that will effortlessly allow them to lose belly fat fast and look like Cindy Crawford for the 80’s.

First I want to straighten out for you what exactly belly fat is so we can figure out the best way to lose it naturally.  Belly fat is a combination of subcutaneous fat (meaning the fat under your skin) and visceral fat (meaning the fat surrounding your organs).

We honestly need some visceral fat surrounding or organs to act like a cushion and protection for them, but most people are packing on way too much and it’s going to give them ore health problems down the line.  Even taking skinfold measurements are not going to be able to measure visceral fat and that’s one of the reasons why doing skinfold measurements for body fat percentage isn’t the most effective technique.

Lots of people with the “skinny fat” syndrome  may appear to be thin and healthy but in reality they’re guts are loaded with visceral fat.  So just because somebody looks the part doesn’t necessarily mean they’re fit as a fiddle.  There are a ton of health problems that can arise from carrying to much visceral fat such as heart disfunction, insulin resistance, hyperglycemia, hypoglycemia, sleep apnea, increased blood pressure and diabetes.

An advantage for women is that they naturally carry less visceral belly fat then men do with similar BMI’s, but that all goes out the window once they hit menopause.  And for men, there’s no easy way to become a woman besides sitting through the Twilight series…

Also genetics plays a role in carrying more belly fat, but that doesn’t mean you’re doomed to look like a sumo wrestler the rest of your life.  Eating less sugar is something that has been proven to reduce visceral belly fat and it’s something all of us can do (at least those of us with willpower).

The Best Way To Lose Belly Fat Naturally

A study published in late 2010 studies two groups to see what was more effective at naturally losing belly fat, diet alone or diet plus exercise.

After 16 weeks, they found that they had lost exactly the same amount of weight.  So the exercise group wanted to smack themselves in the head for wasting their time…but not so fast.

There was a key difference that the traditional weight measurements, girth measurements and body fat percentage measuring didn’t find.

After each group went through a MRI scan, they found that the group who was on a diet plus exercise lost more visceral belly fat than the group that just dieted.

So when it’s all said and done when you want to lose belly fat naturally the best option is going to be to diet and add in exercise at least two times per week.

Throw away your electrocuting ab belts and silly Shake Weights because this method is what works.  As simple as it sounds, diet plus exercise is going to be the best bet for losing belly fat fast.

But until then, let’s stay off the magic pills and focus more on ways to lose belly fat naturally.

@Paul, 8 is the minimum age for somebody to start weight lifting. I would highly suggest sticking to basic bodyweight lifting exercises such as push-ups, pull-ups, lunges, etc. to build a base before lifting actual weights.

Sure Ed, I would focus on your diet by eating more protein and less bad carbohydrates as well as keeping up a weight lifting program 2-3 times a week.

Hi Abdul, to thin out your hips and thighs you’ll probably be best off doing lots of steady state cardio with some light weight lifting. Also make sure you’re caloric intake isn’t too high. If you’re eating too much then you’re going to be putting on more and more size.
