Why Facebook Is Screwing With You

Facebook has been making headlines recently that they’re manipulated their users emotions…

…but there’s something even more important than the ethics of the whole thing.

The experiment performed by Facebook found when they tweaked some users news feed to post more negative stories it caused those users to post more negative updates.

Even though the Facebook PR department is sticking their heads in the sand after this fiasco there’s something you can takeaway from this.

This social experiment is further proof those who you surround yourself with will undoubtedly influence your moods.

If you’re hanging around Negative Nancys all day then you can bet you’ll subconsciously become more negative.

There’s a saying that you’re the average sum of the 5 closest people you associate with and it’s 100% true.

Your life can change dramatically just by weeding out all the negative people.

If you’re trying to get fit and drop those extra pounds then hanging around Paula Deen with her Krispy Kreme Bacon Cheeseburgers aren’t going to help.

Same goes for those who are just naturally ambitious and successful. Hanging around with these types of people will subconsciously motivate you to elevate your game to the next level.

When I was first getting into fitness I started hanging out with people who were in better shape than me.

The result?

It pushed me to work harder and the results came with it.

Some of my clients are very successful to the point I think I should be paying them because it’s so motivating just being around them.

Steve Jobs even fired a guy on the spot because the guy said something Jobs wanted to do was impossible.

Walt Disney fired a custodian who left a pile of garbage bags out in Disneyland because Disney didn’t want people working there who didn’t appreciate cleanliness.

Now let’s use this “social experiment” by Facebook to our advantage.

Instead of just throwing up our arms with contempt for them psychologically manipulating us without our consent we can walk away with a reminder to go towards the positive while dropping the negative.

If you watch scary movies you’re going to get scared.

If you watch uplifting and motivating movies you’ll feel like you can take on the world.

It’s your life.

Don’t let another Negative Nancy bring you down with them.

Create greatness,
