How To Protect Yourself from the Swine Flu
We are under attack! This is clearly what the media wants us to believe so they can sell more newspapers & we can buy more vaccines. But this isn't the first time there has been a pandemic with the swine flu. In 1976 there was a swine flu freakout & the funny thing is there were more people who died from the swine flu vaccine than the swine flu itself! But don't get too relaxed, I wouldn't hop on the next flight to Mexico just yet! What is interesting about this particular swine flu disease is that this version has never before been seen in neither human nor animal. This may sound scary but I wouldn't start peeing my pants. Remember the whole bird flu pandemic that happened in Asia a few years ago? Newspapers had attention-grabbing headlines projecting that MILLIONS of people would be dead from the bird flu. But in reality there have only been 257 deaths from the bird flu worldwide since 2003.
And if you would like to see a comparison, your risk of being killed by a lightning strike in the last 5 years was about 2300% higher than your risk of contracting & dying from the bird flu.
Evolutionary biologist Paul Ewald gave an interview for Esquire claiming that a pandemic of this sort cannot happen because for this to occur the world has to change. Not just the virus itself, but the world.
Mexico is the ONLY country in the world that has had any deaths from the swine flu virus. 152 deaths from flu-like symptoms & 7 confirmed from the swine flu virus. There have been NO DEATHS from US citizens. The small boy who unfortunately died in Texas was also actually from Mexico. So far 1,300 people in Mexico have contracted the swine flu virus & 2/3rds of those have been sent home with a clean bill of health.
Here are the Top 10 Ways to Boost Your Immune System & Protect Yourself from the swine flu.
- Optimize Your Vitamin D Levels. Optimizing your vitamin D levels is on of the absolute best strategies for avoiding infections of ALL kinds. And vitamin D deficiency is likely the TRUE culprit behind the seasonality of the flu–not the virus itself.
- Avoid Sugar & Processed Foods. Sugar decreases the function of your immune system almost immediately, and as you likely know, a strong immune system is key to fighting off viruses & other illness. Be aware that sugar is present in foods you may not suspect, like ketchup, Gatorade & fruit juice.
- Get Enough Rest. Just like it become harder for you to get your daily tasks done if you're tired, if your body is overly fatigued it will be harder for it to fight the flu.
- Have Effective Tools to Address Stress. We all face stress every day, but if stress becomes overwhelming then your body will be less able to fight off the flue & other illness.
- Exercise. When you exercise, you increase your circulation & your blood flow throughout your body. The components of your immune system are also better circulated, which means your immune system has a better change of finding an illness before it spreads.
- Take Omega-3 Fatty Acids. Increase your intake of healthy & essential fats like the omega-3 found in fish oil, which is crucial for maintaining health. It is also vitally important to avoid damaged omega-6 oils that are trans fats & in processed foods as it willseriuousl damage your immune response.
- Wash Your Hands. Washing your hands will decrease your likelihood of spreading a virus to your nose, mouth or other people. Be sure you dont' use antibacterial soap for this–as they are completely unnecessary & can actually cause more harm than good. Instead look for a simple chemical-free soap.
- Eat Garlic Regularly. Garlic works like a broad-spectrum antibiotic against bacteria, virus, & protozoa in the body. And unlike with antibiotics, no resistance can be built up so it is an absolutely safe product to use.
- Take Your Supplements Every Day. Make sure you're protecting yourself with natural immune building supplements. I personally take Green Vibrance which is loaded with probiotics, royal jelly & colostrum.
- Avoid Hospitals & Vaccines. In this particular case, I'd also recommend you stay away from hospitals unless you're having an emergency, as hospitals are prime breeding grounds for infections of all kinds, & could be one of the likeliest places you could be exposed to this new bug. Vaccines will not be available for 6 months at the minimum but when available they will be ineffective & can lead to crippling paralysis like Guillan-Barre Syndrom just as it did in the 70's.

The Earth Day Workout – Get Your A** Out of the Gym!
Well today is the day we're all supposed to be celebrating the Earth and all the life it gives us. To be honest, nobody has said anything to me about today being Earth Day. In fact, if I didn't write it down on my Google Calendar then I most likely would've forgotten about it too. But Earth Day isn't just about turning your lights off or taking public transportation, it's about appreciating everything our planet gives us.I wanted to give you guys some awesome tips that will get you outside the gym this week & get some SUNSHINE into your workouts. It's always a great idea to workout outside every once in a while. Why? Because it will totally switch things up by getting out of the 'comfort zone' gym & it will have you're a totally refreshing feel to your workout.
Here are my tips to have a great week working out outside in celebration of Earth Day.
- 1. Go To A Park: Parks are excellent locations to workout at. Use the tools the park offers to your advantage. Look for a bench to do step-ups & push-ups on. Buy a TRX and set it up to a tree or monkey bars for an incredible total body resistance workout. Be creative & don't worry what people "might" think because everyone I come across is always more intrigued than skeptical. Check out my TRX video I made…The Ultimate TRX Workout.
- 2. Get A Dog: A dog is a great excuse for you to get a workout. I'm not talking about a little Chihuahua but a dog you can actually run with. On days you don't feel like working out; TRICK your body & your mind into taking your dog for a "walk." Soon you'll find yourself jogging along with your dog who is the happiest thing in the world.
- 3. Find Some Hills: Go find a street or a park that has some good sized hills on it & get your body there! Hills are an awesome natural tool to do interval sprints on. The same interval training that has been researched to be 9X more effective at fat burning then doing just plain old endurance training. Sprint up the hill & then slowly come back down the hill, rest a little bit if you need it before repeating. I live near a great park here in Napa, Alston Park, which is outdoors & has huge hills that will kill even this personal trainer!
